St John’s Church served the community of Furness Vale for over 100 years. St John’s was built by public subscription and consecrated as a daughter church of St Mary’s Disley in March 1912. Before that date the increase in housing and population in the Furness Vale area lead to the holding of services, from 1870, in a room attached to a local factory.
St John’s closed for public worship in April 2026 and the building has now been sold. Access to the Burial of Ashes Ground at the rear of the building remains.
